Big and Broad Multimedia Area of ACM Multimedia 2014

This area solicits novel research contributions that look at the different V’s – volume, velocity, and variety – for value creation from ‘big and broad’ multimodal data. Paying attention to the variety of data streams being produced, we seek novel approaches and techniques that allow for integration and co-processing of multiple streams of data for newer insights, for novel applications, or for knowledge generation. In terms ofvolume, we seek contributions that study the scale effects of multiple media sources in terms of media processing requirements, cross-media integration, and multi-scale analysis. Considering velocity, we seek novel contributions that focus on (near) real-time analysis of multiple correlated and contrasting streams of data. Finally, we seek novel contributions that highlight the value proposition put forth by integrating and analyzing a variety of data streams for understanding and responding to real world situations and challenges.
