Overview

The Multimedia Grand Challenge was first presented at ACM Multimedia 2009 and has established itself as both an important recurring event at the ACM Multimedia Conference series and a prestigious competition in the multimedia community. ACM Multimedia 2016 will continue the tradition by introducing new challenges as well as repeating previous ones.

Grand Challenge proposals from industry leaders and academic institutions are expected to define interesting problems and issues from both business and scientific perspectives, giving the multimedia research community an opportunity to solve relevant, interesting, and challenging questions in the multimedia industry’s 3-5 year horizon.

Submission Guidelines

Proposal should provide the following information, where applicable:

  • Challenge overview
  • Task description
  • Dataset
  • Evaluation metric
  • Grand Challenge Contacts

Industry partners can submit the proposals to the Grand Challenge website (Proposal Type):

https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/ACMMMGC2016/Submission/Index

Proposals will be evaluated considering the potential industrial and academic impact of the problem as well as the appropriateness with the conference main topics. On approval of their proposal, the Grand Challenge organizers will be responsible for preparing the challenge dataset (where applicable), soliciting papers by invitation or open call, assigning reviewers, deciding on paper acceptance based on the received paper reviews.

Important note for authors

The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of the conference. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to the published work.
